Hi, my name is Jamie. I live in the wonderful northwoods of Wisconsin. I'm a country gal with small town values, and big hopes and dreams.
I'm here to show you my fascinating hobby/business of handmade lampwork beads. I've been making beads for about two years now. I'm completely addicted.
It's very rewarding to sit and create items from hard glass. It's also rewarding to know what I can do with it. I use a hothead torch (for now) and mainly soft Moretti glass. I also use some ASK 104 glass. This glass has very unique colors and characteristics.
People ask how some of these beads can be created. The secret is heat. As long as I keep the glass warm while I'm working, I can do just about anything.
Glass is an awesome medium to work with. It's amazing what it can do, and how it can change. Glass can go from fragile and completely unmoldable, to soft and sculptable. You can build beads, paint beads, and mold them too. There's almost no limit.
